Puppies at Petite Pinheads are registered with the American Kennel Club.  We strive to produce puppies that are better than their parents and adhere to the AKC standards for the breed.  The breed standard for height is 10" to 12 1/2" at the shoulders.  The desired height is 11" - 11 1/2".  I expect to produce small puppies that also conform to the breed standard.
Miniature Pinschers, commonly referred to as MinPins are NOT related to Doberman Pinschers.  They are NOT miniature Dobermans.  Although both breeds are of German desent, the Miniature Pinscher is actually an older breed than the Doberman Pinscher.  Miniature Pinschers were originally referred to as the Reh Pinscher, named after the Roe deer (Roe meaning Red in German),  a very small red colored deer in Germany.  Miniature Pinschers come in several colors.  They can come in the following colors:
AKC Recognized Colors and also the most common:
Black / Rust
Black / Tan
Chocolate / Rust
Chocolate / Tan
Red - Red Coat
Stag Red - Red Coat with Black Hairs found throughout the coat

AKC Registerable Colors, although disqualified from competition:
Blue / Rust - Dilute version of the Black / Rust
Blue / Tan - Dilute version of the Black / Tan
Fawn / Rust - Dilute version of the Chocolate / Rust
Fawn / Tan - Dilute version of the Chocolate / Tan
Tan - Dilute version of the Red
and then there are variations such as blue stag and fawn stag.

There is NO such thing as a "teacup" miniature pinscher.  This is a term that has been used by breeders to increase their sales.  There is one breed standard for the Minpin, and you can view the standard on the AKC website using my link provided above.  There is no reference to the dog's weight, only to the height of its shoulder from the ground, and the proportionate length.  If you are looking for a "teacup" sized dog, please do your research, see the parents, spend time with them to learn their dispositions, and verify that the parents are not still puppies themselves.  You want a puppy with spunk, a minpin pup should not be shy, or timid of strangers.

Talk to your breeder about the breed and then make an educated decision about where you want to purchase your puppy and make an honest evaluation of yourself to determine if a Miniature Pinscher is the right breed for you and your family.
